My work began with childhood drawings of houses and gradually evolved into streets, neighborhoods, and imaginary cities. Today, I create large-scale ink drawings of fictional urban landscapes seen from a three-quarter aerial perspective.

Influenced by Istanbul’s layered history, multicultural architecture, and organic urban growth, my cities are not based on real locations. They emerge intuitively through drawing, forming dense environments filled with streets, squares, parks, vehicles, rooftop details, and tiny human figures.

In addition to these large cityscapes, I create portraits and small architectural drawings as the “detail stories” of the city. These works focus on the intimate fragments within the larger urban world: anonymous faces, individual buildings, fleeting encounters, and traces of everyday life.

For me, ink is a language of time, labor, and permanence. Each line builds a city that has never existed, yet feels familiar enough to be explored, remembered, and inhabited.
